why: because it's a wonderful 'unfinished' photo realist portrait. Colin Chillag develops his images from a minimal linear drawing and adds in his colour palette showing the developmental process to a painting. We think it's a great approach to get students to understand how to build up layers/sections of an image and not to be afraid of leaving what's necessary.
