why: because we love her beautiful etherial abstract paintings and the fact that she is self-taught. Mary Ann is based just outside Philadelphia where she also grew up. In reflection of her work Mary Ann says "The impulse to paint defies explanation. Why not ask why does one live? Why are we here? Being a painter is simply a way for me to express what is inside".
