3W: Scott Hazard

Photo Constructs - Scott Hazard

what: interesting torn and layered photographs
why: because this is such a simple concept but one that takes a clever mind to conjure! We love anything that pushes the boundaries of what we know, here simple photography becomes three dimensional with use of torn and overlapped images layered to create a 'wormhole' effect. The eye is drawn to this vortex and you are left wanting to know where the tunnel leads, and indeed what is at the end. Hazard is an artist who uses a variety of mediums and has experimented with using text and paper layering in an extension to this project. Hazard hails from North Carolina and has a Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis on sculpture, photography and video from the University of Florida. He is also a qualified landscape architect.

Speaking on his work Hazard says "If the mind is a reducer, shuffling through and endless stream of stimulus to arrive at the most pertinent information, these pieces are reflections and extensions of this process. As the viewer's gaze enters and traverses the layers of images in each construct, vision becomes tactile, lending an articulated viewing experience and a space fort he eyes to linger in each image."
