3W: Yayoi Kusama

what: A giant yellow dotted pumpkin
why: Because it's halloween and it seemed fitting to take a closer look at Yayoi Kusama's "Pumpkin". I only first discovered Kusama's work from the recent Tate Modern exhibition and I found it instantly impressive, unique and very original! This lovely high, vivid yellow pumpkin can be found situated on a beach in Noashima, Japan. What is great about this pumpkin is that it would make 'sense' anywhere - be it in your home, school or a lost island. It is said that the pumpkin represents Kusama's alter-ego or self portrait. What do you think? Check out some of her other monstrous polkadot sculptures here.
